Arlen Specter would not make a satisfactory Judiciary Chairman. The party's base, of which I am fairly representative, is restless. Michael Moore did more to persuade us to support Bush than any Republican has. Conservatives are now perceived as being "in power", and will thus be held responsible for everything that goes wrong for at least the next four years, yet very few items in the Conservative agenda have been implemented. All major recent Conservative victories have been reactive responses to brushfires like gay marriage. If Arlen Specter is allowed to impede the appointment of qualified, proper constructionists to the bench, then the long term political price of being "in power" will not be worth the limited, short term ideological gains.
Sincerely-
Dave Munger
